5/29/11 Chuckwalla Valley Raceway (Desert Center, CA)

The alarm clock started blaring at 4:30 AM. What was I thinking? My brother Steven after years of just doing track days, finally had an opportunity to join a newly formed local racing motorcycle club racing, the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association. Due to my hectic work schedule, I had missed several of his first races and decided to finally go out and cheer him on. The day before he placed 2nd and then 1st. I figured, I would try and document the adventure. It was also a perfect opportunity to check out the new Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. Unfortunately, the winds where very crazy and they were only able to get two races in for other groups, well barely. After the last race, the guys came in and when they stopped, sand just poured out from the bikes. The day was smartly called "done". Hey, you live to race another day. Right? Enjoy.
